Chad – Interview

Saturday 11 August 2012

A MANSFIELD author, who draws on his grandfather’s experiences during the Second World War, ha published his first novel, On Ashover Hill.

Despite working as a financial director and performing as lead singer in indie-rock band Polaroyd, 47-year-old Anthony still finds time to pursue his greatest passion which is writing.

Anthony, who manages the financial services company Fiducia, based on Woodhouse Road in Mansfield, says he wakes up at 5.30am most mornings to write .

“I have to make time or the books won’t get written,” he said.

“It can be hard to juggle jobs but if all I did was write, it might affect the writing process, especially as I’m able to see reality every day while I’m at work.”

On Ashover Hill follows the fortunes of the McTeer family and covers a period of 103 years.

It deals with a range of human emotions such as love, pain and betrayal. It also refers to places Anthony knows, including Sutton and poet Lord Byron’s home Newstead Abbey.

Now Anthony, who is also a prolific poet, is getting ready to publish his second novel.
